Uncaged: Goddesses Wins at the 2022 ENNIE Awards!

Updated: Aug 7, 2022

Yesterday, the Uncaged team was abuzz with excitement as the ENNIE Awards got underway. By the time the evening was over, Uncaged: Goddesses had won two awards—Silver for Best Art (Cover), and Gold for Best Adventure!

What a way to conclude the Uncaged journey! And my, what a journey it's been.

It all started with a short Twitter thread by Ashley Warren.

Tweet by @/ashleynhwarren on Aug 27, 2018: "I have had an idea for a while that I think would be better served as a collaborative anthology. Essentially, I wanted to write a series of one-shots each centered on a female mythological archetype and the origins of those creatures." Followed by "Including hags, witches, succubi, lamia, Medusa, Scylla (hydra/kraken). I think it would be interesting to explore those archetypes from a more feminist perspective since those creatures are essentially bred from misogyny."

Twitter thread by Ashley Warren continues: "This is in part inspired by: - Luciano Garbati's sculpture of Medusa holding the head of Perseus: - 'Circe' by Madeline Miller" ; "Anyway, if this is something that might interest you, let me know! I'd love to collab with female/enby folks on a project like this. It could be a really interesting exploration into archetypes and also make for a fun series of adventures." and "I see this as kind of a sister series to TRIBUNAL, which is all about three very different types of women being "put to the test" by society in some way."

Since then, Uncaged has earned nominations, awards, and the love of countless fans.

I never imagined when I—a longtime player but never before a TTRPG writer—submitted my pitch in 2018 that Uncaged would grow into something so huge and amazing. I'm humbled and grateful to be part of it with everyone, and I can't wait to see what all of us in the Uncaged family do next.
